Copy your photos and videos from the iOS "Photos" app to a standard memory card or USB flash drive. From memory cards, photos can be transferred to a desktop PC or laptop, or you can use the memory card to store your photos and videos. All files are duplicated. Live Photos are copied as both a photo file and a video file. Edited photos and videos are also copied, including both the edited version and the original (this feature can be disabled). Burst photos are copied entirely.
This method provides an effective way to back up all your iPhone photos and videos without relying on iCloud or iTunes, or without needing a desktop or laptop computer. If you have access to a Mac, utilizing the "Disk Utility" app allows you to create an encrypted backup of your media onto a memory card or flash drive. Additionally, this serves as a convenient method to transfer all your media from iPhone to PC (Windows, Linux, or Mac) while maintaining all file data intact, including organization into albums, creation dates, metadata, and comments made in the "Photos" app.
Multiple precautions should be taken: Verify the copied files only after reconnecting the memory card, ensuring that all files are checked thoroughly. It's crucial to examine all copied files, especially by verifying that large thumbnails can be generated for all files in the operating system's file manager.
During the copying process, all file metadata such as creation date and location is retained. The organizational structure of your photos into albums is also preserved. By integrating album names into file names, selecting and viewing photos from specific albums in any operating system is feasible without requiring additional apps or software. This simplifies organization and ensures ease of browsing through photos by album or creation date.
The app creates backup files when editing photos in the iOS "Photos" app to prevent alterations to the original. These backup files share the same name as the original files after copying, aiding in keeping related files grouped together in folders.
Furthermore, customization options allow for rules to automatically organize photo albums into folders. Album folders are nested within year folders, allowing for dual organization by year and album.
One notable feature is the function that checks for duplicate photos and videos already stored on the SD card before copying. If duplicate files are detected in the copy destination folder named OfflinePhotoStorage, they will not be duplicated. To utilize this function effectively, it's important not to alter file locations, names, or extensions once copied.
For more guidance on using the app, refer to the "Help" section within the application.
